My lasting memory of that morning is of security guards carrying machine guns. I continued to Venice Beach to walk and look around, and passed, I am almost certain, the French actor Jean Reno among the many people trying to make sense of the day.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eI made very few photographs; this is the only one that survives, recently scanned from the original print with the caption added at the time. Twenty-five years on, the newsprint, poster-like quality lends the image a nostalgic edge.
