Carnewas at Dawn

£145.00

Quantity:

At dawn on the longest day of 2006, the freshly washed beach at Bedruthan Steps, near Carnewas, lies exposed beneath the first light of morning. Just after five o’clock, the tide has retreated to reveal the broad expanse of sand, still glistening from the departing sea. A profound calm settles over the landscape on this warm summer morning. The air is almost motionless, the only visible movement found in the slow drift of cloud as the temperature rises by a few degrees after dawn. Soft light filters across the beach, illuminating the textures of sand and stone with quiet delicacy.

Anchoring the scene is one of the immense sea stacks for which Bedruthan Steps is renowned. Rising from the shore like an ancient monument, it defines the composition and serves as a reminder of the immense geological forces that have shaped this dramatic stretch of the Cornish coast. This is a moment of stillness and transition: night yielding to day, sea yielding to land, and the longest day of the year beginning in silence beneath a sky of gentle summer light.
