Outside the museum, in the courtyard of the Museo e Real Bosco di Capodimonte in Naples, Italy, a discarded umbrella lies upturned on the beautiful Gothic stonework. On the ledge nearby sits a flask, recently attended to. Nothing much to see here… apart from the umbrella, which is a perfect red. Colour is the true subject — not narrative, not incident, not even place, really — just red. A red so exact, so self-assured, that Pantone would probably like to patent it.
