The oculus of the Pantheon in Rome, photographed from below, reveals the precision and extraordinary craftsmanship of a concrete structure built nearly 2,000 years ago. The roof is estimated to weigh 4,535 tonnes, with the height from floor to oculus measuring 43.3 m (142 ft). The dome’s diameter forms part of a perfect sphere in cross-section within the building.
