Le Jardin V
£75.00
An English garden bathed in bright January sunshine surrounds Montacute House, a celebrated masterpiece of Elizabethan Renaissance architecture. Completed in 1598 by Sir Edward Phelips, the mansion stands as one of the finest examples of its era. Phelips, best known as chief prosecutor of the Gunpowder Plot, was a trusted figure within the Elizabethan government. Today, Montacute’s extensive gardens and honey-golden stone façade provide not only a glimpse into the grandeur of the late 16th century, but also a familiar backdrop - having featured prominently in the BBC’s acclaimed adaptation of Hilary Mantel’s Wolf Hall.
