Le Jardin VI - The Luxembourg Palace, Paris
£155.00
At the height of summer, another heatwave settles over Paris. Walking through the Jardin du Luxembourg, the Palace emerges in the intense midday light, its stone façade and formal gardens transformed by the heat.
Dating from 1612, the garden occupies almost 57 acres in the 6th arrondissement. Under the heavy summer sun, there is an unexpected sense of the south of France here—a grand hotel on the Côte d’Azur, perhaps, with palms rising against the classical architecture. Yet the scene remains unmistakably Parisian: formal, restrained and elegant, with a quiet balance between grand architecture and the simplicity of the garden.
