Riflemaker
£495.00
John Wilkes, gun maker and rifle maker storefront at 79 Beak Street, Soho, central London. This beautiful, ageing, untouched facade was once home to a gun and rifle maker. A sublime mix of various shades of green paint applied over a period of several years has resulted in a beautiful patina - for many years it was home to a contemporary art gallery, simply named - Riflemaker. As of 2023 it is now the official London store of a relatively new fashion label from Paris - Officine Générale and has been re-painted, sympathetically, in a slightly darker shade of green but the original John Wilkes signage remains intact.
The painter Canaletto lived for three years at number 41 Beak Street (1749-1752).
